Children's sleepwear must meet one of two safety standards:

1. Flame Resistant Fabric Pajamas made from flame-resistant treated fabric can be loose-fitting. The fabric itself provides the protection.

2. Snug-Fitting (Our Approach) Pajamas made from natural fibers like bamboo — which are not chemically treated with flame retardants — must be snug-fitting to comply with CPSC regulations. The idea is simple: snug-fitting sleepwear is less likely to catch fire because there's no loose fabric near a flame.

At Pure Bambinos, our pajamas are designed to be snug-fitting and CPSC compliant. This is why they may feel slightly more fitted than your child's daywear. It's not a sizing error — it's a safety feature. Should I Size Up in Bamboo Pajamas?

This is the question we hear most! Here's our honest answer:

For pajamas and footies, we recommend ordering true to size or even sizing down if your child is between sizes. The snug fit is intentional and required for safety compliance. Our bamboo is stretchy enough that snug doesn't mean uncomfortable — it means safe.

For daywear — rompers, dresses, joggers, bodysuits, and t-shirts — we recommend sizing up if you're between sizes. These pieces are not subject to snug-fit requirements and have a more relaxed, comfortable cut.

Pure Bambinos Toddler Sizing Guide

Newborn (0-3 months) Best for babies up to 12 lbs. If your baby was born above average weight, size up to 3-6 months right away.

3-6 Months Fits most babies between 12-16 lbs. Our rompers and footies have extra room in the thighs — perfect for the chunky baby stage!

6-12 Months Fits babies roughly 16-22 lbs. This is when little ones start moving more, so bamboo's natural stretch really shines.

12-18 Months Perfect for early walkers. If your toddler is on the taller side, consider sizing up to 18-24 months for length.

18-24 Months Fits most toddlers between 24-28 lbs. Our pajama sets at this size have extra length built in for growth spurts.

2T / 3T / 4T At this stage, fit is more about height than weight. If your child is tall for their age, always size up in daywear. For pajamas, stick to true to size for safety compliance.

5T — 11/12 Our bigger kid sizes are cut slightly longer to allow for movement. Yes — we go all the way up to size 11/12, so older kids can enjoy the same buttery soft bamboo as the littles! Great for active kids who need both durability and stretch.

How to Measure Your Child at Home
